The Floyd County Police Department said Jacob Driver Jr., 50, was arrested at home Tuesday morning after police showed up and charged him with “gross violations of the dog fighting and cruelty to animals law” based on an investigation into dog training and fighting at another precinct.

Police say they removed 17 pit bulls that were “found chained in a half-acre yard behind a fence” in one lot, and another pit bull from Driver’s home.

“When the police arrived, the dogs were tied with heavy industrial chains anchored in the ground to the axles of cars that were buried in the ground,” the report said.
