A man was taken into custody after robbing a gun store in Arlington, Virginia and trying to escape on a subway bus.
The 22-year-old suspect was wearing a ski mask on Thursday when he entered the NOVA armory on Wilson Boulevard and stole a gun and ammunition, according to Arlington County Police.
The employee reportedly asked the man to take off his mask when he entered the store, but he ignored the request, took the goods and left the building.
The employee tried to stop the man, but he stabbed him, left the store and jumped into the subway bus. There were no reports of casualties in the incident.
VIRGINIA POLICE SHOT MAN WHO POINTED PEN AT THEM
Police stopped a subway bus at the corner of Wilson and Danville streets around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. An eyewitness told FOX 5 DC that a large number of cops showed up in the area and then the police got on the bus to apprehend the man.
The NOVA Armory moved to its current location last summer and some residents feared the move.
One woman said at the time that the new location could lead to crime and gave an example of an incident she thought might have happened, which was similar to Thursday’s robbery.

“Someone gets on the subway, comes here, knows there’s a gun shop nearby. Come in, come out. Get back on the subway and there’s nothing anyone can do about it,” the woman told FOX 5 DC.
During Thursday’s incident, police responded to the robbery within seconds and arrested the suspect, according to people nearby.
Police said the suspect is in jail without bail.
