Prominent media figures took to Twitter to express their dismay that former President Donald Trump called on Americans to protest his possible arrest and “take back our country.”

Many experts have linked Trump’s message, which he posted on Truth Social, to calls for violence and other “January 6th talks” relating to the Capitol riots that took place in January 2021.

The former president posted a lengthy message to Truth Social denouncing the news that the New York District Attorney is likely to arrest him next week. Reports indicated that Trump could be accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet, which he did when he was a presidential candidate in 2016.

After speaking with a court source, Fox News Digital reported on Friday that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office plans to meet “with law enforcement to “discuss logistics for some time next week, which would mean they expect charges to be filed next week.” “

Trump exploded into the news in an outraged post, written in capital letters on Saturday morning, in which he also acknowledged that he could very well be detained.

He wrote: “Now illegal leaks from the corrupt and highly politicized Manhattan District Attorney’s office, which set new records for violent crimes and whose leader is George Soros, are evidence that without a lack of crimes that can be proven, and on the basis of old and completely EXPANDED (FROM NUMEROUS OTHER PROSECUTORS!) TALES FAR, FAR FURTHER THE REPUBLIC’S LEADING CANDIDATE AND FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE ARRESTED TUESDAY NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, RETURN OUR NATION! “

Journalists fixated on Trump’s last line of protest and his return to the country, arguing that it was a clear push for civil unrest.

Politico senior legal reporter Kyle Cheney tweeted about the developments, writing, “Predicting the imminent charges against him in Manhattan, Trump on Saturday called on supporters to ‘take back our nation’, an ominous exhortation reminiscent of his Jan. 6 calls.”

He added: “There are many similarities to Trump’s calls for 1/6, including giving supporters a designated day to rally. But, unlike two years ago, there is no natural gathering place or even certainty that Tuesday is the right day.”

American writer and journalist Whitelash Wesley Lowry noted that “the main risk of indicting Trump has always been that there are millions of people who (unjustifiably) consider him the rightful leader of the country, and millions more who see him as the head of their movement. . . some of them showed that they were ready to carry out a coup if he asked.

Presidential historian and NBC News pundit Michael Beschloss wondered, “Will social media be available to support him if he calls for national violence?”

Independent columnist Ahmed Baba wrote: “Trump tells his supporters to protest and ‘take back our nation.’ This time, law enforcement better prepare, because we are talking about January 6th.”

HuffPost senior editor Philip Lewis said, “Protest, take back our nation” is not a statement from a politician. This is Trump’s call for violence, and that’s clear.”

MSNBC contributor David Korn commented: “And in recent posts, he justified or denied the January 6th violence. He is an authoritarian man, ready (again) to use violence for his own ends. This is a threat to the nation.”

Lincoln Project founder Rick Wilson commented on Trump’s arrest announcement and possible protests, tweeting, “This is going to be wild.”
