The March Madness has arrived and the scholarship season is pretty crazy too. Scholarship America and our partners offer dozens of open scholarships that you can apply for right now; our recommended programs this week include guaranteed scholarships for the families of front-line medical workers who died in the fight against COVID-19; Wells Fargo Veterans and Disabled Assistance Programs; and a unique opportunity for students in the Boston metro area.

Scholarship of the Brave at Heart
In May 2020, Cigna and New York Life established the Brave of Heart Fund with the mission of providing charitable grants and emotional support services to the families of frontline medical workers, volunteers, and support staff whose lives have been lost in combat. against COVID-19.
The Braveheart Foundation, operated by E4E Relief, includes the Braveheart Scholarship, a program that provides scholarships to the children, spouses, or home partners of healthcare workers who have died from COVID-related causes. Applications for the Brave of Heart Scholarship are now open.
If you have lost a parent, spouse, or domestic partner who worked or volunteered as a frontline health worker, you may be eligible to apply. You must also be a US citizen or legal resident planning to enroll in a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school in the coming academic year. .
If you are currently in school, you must also have a GPA of 2.0 on the 4.0 scale or equivalent. Non-traditional students, students studying abroad, and students returning to college after vacation can apply even if you don’t have a recent GPA. Finally, applicants who have lost a parent must be under the age of 26 at the time of the application deadline. (There is no age limit for spouses/cohabitants.)
Brave Heart Scholarship No competitive program; all eligible candidates will receive funds. Prize amounts range from $5,000 to $25,000 per academic year, depending on financial need and area of study, and most prizes can be claimed for up to four years. (PhD students may be eligible for awards up to $50,000 per year.)

Tanya D. Blocker Memorial Scholarship
Corium is a commercial biopharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes central nervous system (CNS) therapies. Corium, based in Boston, works to provide clinicians with important treatment options for patients, their families and carers.
As the head of marketing at Corium, a biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of drugs for the treatment of the central nervous system, Tanya Blocker was passionate about people. This was evident in her unwavering spirit and in the way she approached her work, supporting patients and new treatments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Her love for people extended to her commitment to those who worked around her, helping them reach their potential, and those less fortunate, finding ways to support them. The Tanya D. Blocker Memorial Scholarship was established in her memory to support students in Boston, Massachusetts who have been diagnosed with ADHD and are continuing their college education.
If you live in suburban Boston and have been diagnosed with ADHD, you can apply for one of two $5,000 awards. You must also be a high school senior, high school graduate, or current college student who plans to attend full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
Your financial needs will be considered and you will also be asked to provide a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD in order to be eligible for assistance.

Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship and Emergency Grant Programs
While military service is related to education, many veterans returning to school still face funding gaps, especially when it comes to emergency and living expenses. The Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship and Wells Fargo Veterans Emergency Grant programs are designed to help veterans complete the college education or training they need to return and succeed in civilian life and work.
The Wells Fargo Veterans Scholarship provides stipends of up to $5,000 per year to help veterans, spouses, and widows of disabled veterans meet the costs that remain after they use their military benefits and other grants. Scholarships are renewed each year to help recipients focus on their degree and not worry about paying future expenses.
Of course, the path to college isn’t always smooth, so the Emergency Grant component is designed to help in the event of financial hardship. Veterans enrolled in institutions of higher education can apply for emergency grants if they encounter unexpected bills or expenses. These immediate one-time grants of up to $1,000 are designed to ensure that recipients stay in school and do not create undue financial hardship.

Wells Fargo Scholarship for People with Disabilities
According to statistics from the US Department of Labor, it is difficult for Americans with disabilities to find work. While almost 77% of people of working age (16 to 64 years old) without a disability currently work, less than 40% of people with a disability are actively working. Educational opportunities can help close this gap, which is why Wells Fargo is proud to offer the Wells Fargo Scholarship Program for people with disabilities. This program is specifically designed for part-time or full-time college students with disabilities, helping them gain the education or training they need to succeed in their chosen career.
In partnership with Scholarship America, Wells Fargo has provided nearly $1 million to help 201 scholarship recipients with disabilities reach their educational goals. In 2023, the Wells Fargo Disability Scholarship Program will once again provide scholarships of up to $2,500 for eligible full-time students, renewable up to three years. Scholarships of up to $1,250 are available to eligible part-time students and are renewable for up to seven years or a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first.
